The 0.59 inch of rain recorded today by late afternoon at Waco Regional Airport bumps 2015 into the top five among rainy years for Waco, according to the National Weather Service. Here they are:
Waco, mind you, is getting off pretty lightly in this rain event. Flooding has killed at least one person each in Fort Worth, Garland and Mansfield, with another woman in Fort Worth still missing. DFW Airport recorded 2.36 inches as of 6 p.m. Friday — smashing the Nov. 27 record of 0.76 inch, set in 1958, and bringing their 2015 rainfall total to a record 55.82 inches (the previous No. 1 was 1991's 53.54 inches).
There's more coming both in DFW and here. Waco's chance of rain is 100 percent through Saturday night, and 80 percent on Sunday, according to the NWS, with temperatures expected not to depart a range of around 40-46 degrees until Monday. (That's temperatures, full stop, not just highs or lows.) Here's hoping you can stay warm and dry this weekend.
