Man arrested, charged with murder in Sanger Avenue shooting

Only $5 for 5 months

A Waco man was arrested on a murder charge Monday evening in a shooting death earlier in the day at a North Waco home.

The U.S. Marshals Service’s Lone Star Fugitive Task Force arrested Courtney O’Neil Washington, 26, at about 7 p.m. near North 25th Street and Waco Drive on a warrant charging him with murder in the shooting death of Larry Bryant, 50.

Washington and Bryant got into an argument early Monday morning at an apartment in the 2600 block of Sanger Avenue, Waco police Officer Garen Bynum said. Police believe Washington left, returned later with a handgun and fatally shot Bryant, Bynum said. He said police identified Washington as a suspect after interviewing witnesses and received a warrant for his arrest later in the day. Washington did not live with Bryant, Bynum said.

Washington remained in McLennan County Jail on Tuesday with bond listed at $250,000.
