McLennan Community College is celebrating the recognition of Music Industry Careers professor and alumnus Shane Hall, one of five finalists for Keyboard/Pianist of the Year in the 2026 Texas Country Music Awards presented by the Texas Country Music Association (TCMA). Hall was recognized for his work performing with Texas country artist Billie Jo.
The annual Texas Country Music Awards recognize outstanding artists, musicians, and industry professionals from across the state. Finalists were selected through a statewide nomination process. Winners will be announced on Nov. 8 at Billy Bob's Texas in Fort Worth. Public voting is open through Aug. 15.
Hall brings decades of professional music experience to the classroom at MCC. As both a performer and educator, he has built a career working alongside nationally recognized artists while helping prepare the next generation of music professionals.
A former MCC Highlander, Hall earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Commercial Music from MCC before completing a bachelor's degree in jazz piano from the University of Texas at Arlington. A Waco native, Hall began playing piano at the age of nine in church, sparking a lifelong passion for worship and music. Since graduating from college, Hall has performed across the country in multiple genres, including worship, country, jazz, and rock. Career highlights include opening for Diamond Rio and Neal McCoy, as well as performing with country artist Billie Jo. Outside the classroom, he also plays for jazz singer and MCC graduate Claire Ruland.
Hall teaches music business, music technology, and commercial music performance, helping students develop both the artistic and business skills needed for careers in today's evolving music industry. Starting this fall, he will also be teaching country band and contemporary Christian band in the Music Industry Careers program.
The Music Industry Careers program at MCC provides students with hands-on instruction from experienced professionals while preparing them for careers in performance, production, recording, songwriting, artist management, and other areas of the industry. Hall's recognition reflects the program’s emphasis on hands-on learning from faculty who are active music professionals.
