TEMPE, Ariz. – Texas A&M's Theo Papamalamis was among 23 collegiate tennis players named to the 2026-27 PIF ATP Next Gen Accelerator Program, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), in partnership with the ATP Tour, announced on Thursday.
Composed of 23 athletes from 19 institutions, the 2026-27 class is poised to continue the success seen by past members of the PIF ATP Next Gen Accelerator, earning opportunities to fast track their professional careers through the ATP Challenger Tour.
"This is a great honor and a tremendous opportunity for Theo," Aggie men's tennis head coach Steve Denton said. "It's a testament to his hard work and success. Hopefully this will open some doors for him and be the catalyst for his continued success in tennis."
Papamalamis received singles and doubles All-America honors in 2026 and qualified for the Next Gen program with a No. 16 position in the final ITA rankings. Papamalamis became the sixth player in school history to receive both singles and doubles All-America recognition in the same season and the first since fellow Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech accomplished the feat in 2016 and 2017.
The sophomore from Lessy, France, compiled a 15–9 singles record in the spring, all at the No. 1 court, after not competing during the fall season. He recorded a team-high eight victories over ITA-ranked opponents (8–8), with his highest-ranked win coming against No. 9 Aiden Kim of Ohio State, 7–5, 6–2.
