COLUMBUS, Ga. – Texas A&M's Vanessa Borovilos was named an ANNIKA Award finalist, the organization announced Friday.
Borovilos is one of 10 finalists for the ANNIKA Award, which honors the best collegiate golfer in the country. Current Division I golfers, coaches, past ANNIKA Award winners, women's golf sports information directors and select college golf media members will vote to decide the winner from May 15-25.
The All-SEC First Team selection is ranked No. 9 on the Scoreboard Individual Rankings. Since the beginning of the spring season, Borovilos has registered two individual championships, two runner-up performances and a perfect 2-0 record in match play. Most recently, Borovilos won the Waco Regional with a program record 54-hole score of 10-under 200.
The Aggie has only finished outside of the top 10 once since October and is also on the WGCA Player of the Year Watch List. In both of the Canadian's victories this season at the Moon Golf Invitational and Waco Regional she won by four strokes.
The Aggies and Borovilos are set to embark on their NCAA Championships run May 22-27 at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California. Texas A&M has reached match play at NCAAs three of the last four years, including two semifinal appearances.
